Who Told You?..

Interesting little insight from the Genesis narrative of the fall of man.

When Adam tells God that he was hiding from him because he was naked, what is God’s question in response?

Notice that God doesn’t ask Adam, “how did you find out?”

No,

He asks, “who told you?”

It’s interesting in context to the way the system today operates from a presumption of objectivity.

“Studies have shown” this or “science proves” that and so on, are phrased as such to suggest some sort of transcendent knowledge that is merely beheld and acknowledged by all and sundry.

But the reality is,

Truth can be discovered.

But knowledge and information are ALWAYS passed on from one person to the next.

Somebody told you.

A Person taught you. Either by text or by speech, what you've learned is what was told to you by someone.

Truth can only be ignored, denied or suppressed.

But knowledge and information can be twisted and abused. They can be used to deceive and manipulate.

And knowledge and information are ALWAYS subject to individual bias, prejudices and predilections.

Thus Knowledge and information can never be impartial or objective.

So the question about your worldview or the worldview of others is not “what do you know”,

but rather,

“Who told you?”
