Journalists do not report facts of events, they give abstract impressions, informed by person bias that cater to the prejudices of a specific, culturally/politically ossified, audience.
Remember, language is about communication and you have to know to whom you are communicating before you construct your address.
Journalists (in reports or articles) must always then be speaking to their own select social circle. They must presume the in-jokes will be recognized and the cultural reference points taken.
This is natural.
This is why so many people observe that the media has an agenda.
So do I. So do you. So does everybody.
Stop being naive and “shocked” to discover human beings are human beings.
This cult of the professional that has taken root in Murica is as comical as it is annoying.
Maybe it’s too much to reveal to some people that about 99% of professionals (in all fields) buy or steal their accreditation because it is status.
Status is Murica's Golden Calf.
